21% OffApple today revealed it has granted $410 million from its Advanced Manufacturing Fund to Pennsylvania-based II-VI, a manufacturer of optical technology.
The funds will assist produce additional capacity and accelerate shipment of future iPhone parts, supporting more than 700 tasks in Sherman, Texas; Warren, New Jersey; Easton, Pennsylvania; and Champaign, Illinois, according to Apple.
II-VI makes vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) that help power Face ID, along with lasers for the LiDAR Scanner:

Apple also deals with II-VI to make lasers used in the LiDAR Scanner– innovation that assists deliver faster, more realistic augmented truth experiences and enhances autofocus in low-light scenes in videos and pictures.

Apples Advanced Manufacturing Fund currently granted $390 million to optical supplier Finisar in 2017, which business has since been obtained by II-VI.
