This report describes a path for the international energy sector to reach net-zero CO2 emissions that stresses the transformation of the electric power sector and the 3 primary end-use sectors– market, transportation, and structures. The electric power sector, while the biggest source of energy-related CO2 emissions today, has the potential to be the first financial sector to attain net-zero emissions due to its lower expenses, widespread policy support, and maturity of a selection of renewable energy innovations.
