20% OffOur search for energy savers takes us to Bend, Oregon, where we talked with Milton Abreo. Milton and his family love snowboarding, taking pleasure in the terrific outdoors and living sustainably.
After retiring in 2016, Milton desired to remain in a smaller sized town with skiing centers close by. Bend was the ideal fit. He purchased a house with his partner, their boy and pet, and quickly fell in love with the neighborhood and natural charm of the location.
Once settled, Milton began working on his next objective: making the home as sustainable, durable and energy efficient as possible. “I actually desire to minimize my footprint on this world, and Im conscientious about it. My goal is to get to net zero,” he stated.
Miltons home is more recent, so it currently has energy-saving features such as double pane windows and an efficient heating and cooling system. The modifications hes making now are future focused. The family has a plug-in hybrid cars and truck and just recently completed a roof solar installation with assistance from Energy Trust of Oregon.
Milton was encouraged by the solar incentives and monetary support available to make sustainable energy options more available. He received basic rewards for his project, however appreciates that programs like Solar Within Reach use additional assistance to certified homes.
Powering the home with solar is a big part of Miltons plan to achieve net-zero energy usage. Hes not quite there yet, however hes much more detailed now, and hes seeing very little energy expenses even in winter season.
Along with the cost savings, Milton is a big believer in preservation for the higher great, like protecting what makes Bend so special.
” Loving Bend is not almost the charm it has, but also conserving that appeal.”
After retiring in 2016, Milton desired to be in a smaller sized town with snowboarding facilities close by.
