In addition, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the essentials of these tasks are not widely taught in school. Throughout our preliminary visit, I noted that they could just attain about 56% of solar energy offset due to their houses usage rates and shading from trees on the property. We discussed a couple of additional energy efficiency upgrades to the home to reduce energy consumption, which could provide a higher energy offset. Angela initially winced at the thought of investing more cash into the house, however ultimately she called me back and stated she desired to move forward with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades. Thanks to the AC upgrade, they have decreased their energy consumption considerably, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying prior to setting up solar.

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is delighted to share the fourth installment in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog series.
Each installation includes industry leaders and topics associated with accelerating a fair and just shift to a renewable resource economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September features highlight how 3 Hispanic-owned Accelerate member business are thriving in the eco-friendly energy sector.
What inspired you to begin SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I always set high expectations for myself and always look for chances to serve others– be it by providing exceptional client service, language translations, or simply sharing knowledge with others. My personal objectives and desire to help others led me to work in the renewable resource sector, where I can pursue this dream on a bigger scale.
Tell us about SUNTEX?
Our companys mission is basic: we wish to make solar easy and economical every step of the method. We mainly serve the Hispanic neighborhood in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers understand and adopt renewable energy as a way of living, assisting generations to come.
Please share with us more about your journey towards establishing SUNTEX. Was there an “aha moment” when you decided to concentrate on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my business partner and I had the chance to sign up with a really appealing little solar setup business in Houston. Through this work we saw the chance offered to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) community. As a result, my partner and I combined his experience in selling to the Hispanic market with my customer support competence to create SUNTEX where “the client is the factor we exist as a business”. Our focus is linking the Hispanic community and our consumers with exceptional consumer service.
Why is concentrating on the Hispanic community a concern for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have actually personally experienced a lack of care and interaction from those that can not identify with our culture. We understood that solar advantages everybody, regardless of race or background, and that our people would require a lot of assistance to comprehend how to obtain this advantage for their homes.
What challenges do you face? Why?
Being a small business with a high level of service expectations for our customers comes with its own set of difficulties. Additionally, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the basics of these tasks are not widely taught in school.
How are you making an impact through SUNTEX?
By merely living up to our honest worths. I have learned throughout my life that in company, there is no other method to do it best but to be truthful. While others may take shortcuts, the truth constantly prevails.
Please share with us a recent company success story.
Throughout our preliminary appointment, I noted that they could only attain about 56% of solar energy balanced out due to their homes consumption rates and shading from trees on the home. We discussed a couple of additional energy effectiveness upgrades to the house to reduce energy usage, which could provide a higher energy offset. Angela at first flinched at the thought of investing more cash into the house, however eventually she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades.
During the setup, we wound up spending for Angela and her senior mother to remain in a hotel till their assessments and upgrades were total to ensure they were comfy throughout the process.
Now, Angelas solar system covers 100% of the electricity used in her house. Thanks to the AC upgrade, they have actually decreased their energy usage greatly, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying before setting up solar. This is what we indicate by “customer support.”
From a nationwide point of view, how can we improve access to sustainable enery?
From my experience, there is a huge gap in gain access to. The majority of the house owners that we visit are lucky to own a house, yet a number of them have not gotten approved for solar due to numerous combined or isolated factors such as subprime credit rating, lower annual family income, self-employment, or an absence of knowledge of readily available loan programs. These neighborhoods require more assistance and education on the importance of installing a planetary system that can save them money. We need to provide more people with chances to adopt renewable resource with less inconveniences.
How has your Accelerate subscription helped your company?
By empowering us to think that there is someone there to support our growth in this market, and providing us the opportunity to fulfill others in the same boat. Now I understand that there is wish for minority small companies in the renewable resource industry.
How can potential partners do service with you?
It is essential that we share the same values and objective to assist others, even if it suggests leaving our convenience zones. It may cost a little more for us to do business, however its worth it in the end for our customers. If youre willing to begin there, we d love to satisfy to talk about possible partnership chances.
Exists anything else you want to show ACORE members and partners?
We are genuinely grateful for the Accelerate subscription program and for all of the chances you have actually provided. I understand this is just the beginning, and we have a long road ahead of us; nevertheless, I anticipate becoming a sponsor to assist pave the method for other Accelerate members in the future– with a special thanks to all of my clients and partners at SUNTEX, given that they are the fuel that drives the objective!
