In addition, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the basics of these tasks are not extensively taught in school. Throughout our initial consultation, I kept in mind that they might only accomplish about 56% of solar energy balanced out due to their homes usage rates and shading from trees on the home. We talked about a few additional energy performance upgrades to the home to minimize energy consumption, which could offer a greater energy offset. Angela at first flinched at the idea of investing more cash into the home, however eventually she called me back and stated she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy performance upgrades. Thanks to the A/c upgrade, they have minimized their energy usage considerably, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying before installing solar.

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is happy to share the 4th installment in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog series.
Each installation includes industry leaders and topics related to speeding up an equitable and just transition to a sustainable energy economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September features highlight how 3 Hispanic-owned Accelerate member business are flourishing in the renewable energy sector.
What inspired you to start SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I always set high expectations for myself and constantly look for opportunities to serve others– be it by offering extraordinary client service, language translations, or merely sharing understanding with others. My individual objectives and desire to assist others led me to operate in the eco-friendly energy sector, where I can pursue this dream on a bigger scale.
Tell us about SUNTEX?
Our companys objective is simple: we desire to make solar easy and economical every step of the method. We mostly serve the Hispanic neighborhood in Texas. That is what we do best– assist Spanish speakers comprehend and embrace eco-friendly energy as a method of life, helping generations to come.
Please share with us more about your journey toward developing SUNTEX. Was there an “aha moment” when you decided to concentrate on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my company partner and I had the opportunity to sign up with a really appealing small solar installation business in Houston. Through this work we saw the opportunity readily available to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) neighborhood.
Why is concentrating on the Hispanic community a top priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have personally experienced an absence of care and interaction from those that can not identify with our culture. We understood that solar advantages everyone, regardless of race or background, and that our people would need a lot of support to comprehend how to acquire this advantage for their houses.
What challenges do you face? Why?
Being a little company with a high level of service expectations for our consumers comes with its own set of obstacles. Additionally, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the fundamentals of these tasks are not commonly taught in school.
How are you making an impact through SUNTEX?
By simply measuring up to our sincere worths. I have actually learned throughout my life that in organization, there is no other method to do it right however to be sincere. While others may take faster ways, the reality always dominates.
Please show us a recent business success story.
During our initial appointment, I kept in mind that they might only accomplish about 56% of solar energy offset due to their homes consumption rates and shading from trees on the home. We talked about a couple of additional energy efficiency upgrades to the house to lower energy consumption, which could supply a greater energy balanced out. Angela initially winced at the thought of investing more cash into the house, but eventually she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy performance upgrades.
Throughout the installation, we wound up paying for Angela and her senior mom to remain in a hotel until their assessments and upgrades were total to ensure they were comfy throughout the process.
Now, Angelas solar system covers 100% of the electricity utilized in her home. Thanks to the air conditioning upgrade, they have actually lowered their energy intake significantly, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment monthly that is less than she was paying before installing solar. This is what we indicate by “customer support.”
From a national point of view, how can we enhance access to renewable enery?
Many of the house owners that we check out are lucky to own a house, yet numerous of them have not certified for solar due to numerous combined or isolated elements such as subprime credit score, lower annual family income, self-employment, or an absence of understanding of available loan programs. We need to provide more people with chances to adopt renewable energy with less troubles.
How has your Accelerate subscription helped your company?
By empowering us to believe that there is someone there to support our development in this market, and offering us the chance to satisfy others in the same boat. Now I know that there is wish for minority small companies in the eco-friendly energy industry.
How can potential partners do business with you?
It is very important that we share the same worths and mission to help others, even if it indicates leaving our comfort zones. It might cost a bit more for us to do company, but its worth it in the end for our clients. If youre ready to start there, we d love to meet to go over possible partnership opportunities.
Is there anything else you want to show ACORE members and partners?
We are really grateful for the Accelerate membership program and for all of the opportunities you have actually supplied. I understand this is just the start, and we have a long roadway ahead of us; nevertheless, I eagerly anticipate ending up being a sponsor to help lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with an unique thanks to all of my clients and partners at SUNTEX, given that they are the fuel that drives the objective!
