Furthermore, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the fundamentals of these tasks are not extensively taught in school. During our preliminary visit, I kept in mind that they could just attain about 56% of solar energy offset due to their homes intake rates and shading from trees on the property. We discussed a couple of extra energy effectiveness upgrades to the home to decrease energy consumption, which might provide a higher energy balanced out. Angela at first flinched at the thought of investing more cash into the home, however ultimately she called me back and said she desired to move forward with the solar and energy efficiency upgrades. Thanks to the A/c upgrade, they have reduced their energy usage greatly, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying before installing solar.

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is delighted to share the 4th installation in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog site series.
Each installment features industry leaders and subjects connected to speeding up an equitable and just transition to a sustainable energy economy. In acknowledgment of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how 3 Hispanic-owned Accelerate member companies are prospering in the eco-friendly energy sector.
What inspired you to start SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I constantly set high expectations for myself and constantly search for opportunities to serve others– be it by offering exceptional customer care, language translations, or just sharing knowledge with others. My personal goals and desire to help others led me to operate in the sustainable energy sector, where I can pursue this dream on a larger scale.
Tell us about SUNTEX?
Our companys mission is simple: we wish to make solar simple and affordable every step of the method. We largely serve the Hispanic community in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers comprehend and adopt renewable resource as a method of life, assisting generations to come.
Please show us more about your journey towards developing SUNTEX. Existed an “aha moment” when you chose to focus on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my organization partner and I had the chance to sign up with a very appealing small solar setup business in Houston. Through this work we saw the opportunity available to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) community.
Why is focusing on the Hispanic community a top priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have personally experienced an absence of care and interaction from those that can not determine with our culture. We understood that solar benefits everyone, regardless of race or background, and that our people would require a lot of support to understand how to get this benefit for their homes.
What challenges do you deal with? Why?
Being a small business with a high level of service expectations for our consumers comes with its own set of challenges. Furthermore, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the basics of these jobs are not widely taught in school.
How are you making an effect through SUNTEX?
By simply living up to our honest worths. I have found out throughout my life that in business, there is no other way to do it best but to be honest. While others may take shortcuts, the truth constantly dominates.
Please share with us a recent company success story.
Throughout our preliminary visit, I kept in mind that they could just achieve about 56% of solar energy offset due to their homes usage rates and shading from trees on the residential or commercial property. We talked about a couple of additional energy efficiency upgrades to the home to lower energy usage, which might provide a greater energy balanced out. Angela at first cringed at the idea of investing more money into the house, however eventually she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades.
Throughout the installation, we ended up spending for Angela and her senior mother to remain in a hotel till their upgrades and inspections were complete to guarantee they were comfy throughout the procedure.
Now, Angelas solar system covers 100% of the electricity utilized in her house. Thanks to the air conditioning upgrade, they have minimized their energy consumption considerably, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment monthly that is less than she was paying prior to installing solar. This is what we mean by “customer support.”
From a nationwide viewpoint, how can we enhance access to sustainable enery?
From my experience, there is a large gap in access. Most of the house owners that we go to are lucky to own a house, yet a lot of them have actually not certified for solar due to a number of combined or isolated elements such as subprime credit score, lower annual home earnings, self-employment, or an absence of understanding of available loan programs. These neighborhoods require more assistance and education on the significance of setting up a solar system that can save them cash. We need to supply more people with chances to adopt renewable resource with fewer inconveniences.
How has your Accelerate membership assisted your service?
By empowering us to believe that there is somebody there to support our development in this market, and giving us the chance to meet others in the very same boat. Now I understand that there is wish for minority small companies in the sustainable energy market.
How can prospective partners do business with you?
It is essential that we share the exact same worths and objective to help others, even if it indicates leaving our convenience zones. It might cost a little bit more for us to do organization, however its worth it in the end for our consumers. We d like to meet to go over possible partnership opportunities if youre ready to start there.
Is there anything else you would like to share with ACORE members and partners?
We are truly grateful for the Accelerate subscription program and for all of the chances you have provided. I understand this is only the start, and we have a long roadway ahead of us; nevertheless, I eagerly anticipate ending up being a sponsor to assist pave the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with an unique thanks to all of my customers and partners at SUNTEX, given that they are the fuel that drives the mission!
