In addition, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the basics of these tasks are not widely taught in school. Throughout our initial consultation, I noted that they might just accomplish about 56% of solar energy offset due to their homes intake rates and shading from trees on the home. We went over a few additional energy effectiveness upgrades to the house to minimize energy consumption, which might provide a greater energy balanced out. Angela initially flinched at the thought of investing more cash into the house, but eventually she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy performance upgrades. Thanks to the Air Conditioning upgrade, they have actually decreased their energy usage considerably, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying before installing solar.

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is happy to share the fourth installation in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog site series.
Each installment features market leaders and topics connected to accelerating an equitable and just transition to a renewable resource economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how three Hispanic-owned Accelerate member companies are thriving in the sustainable energy sector.
What inspired you to begin SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I always set high expectations for myself and always try to find opportunities to serve others– be it by providing exceptional client service, language translations, or just sharing understanding with others. My personal goals and desire to assist others led me to operate in the renewable energy sector, where I can pursue this dream on a bigger scale.
Inform us about SUNTEX?
Our companys objective is easy: we wish to make solar simple and inexpensive every action of the way. We largely serve the Hispanic neighborhood in Texas. That is what we do best– assist Spanish speakers comprehend and adopt renewable resource as a way of life, assisting generations to come.
Please show us more about your journey toward establishing SUNTEX. Was there an “aha minute” when you chose to focus on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my business partner and I had the opportunity to join a very appealing little solar installation business in Houston. Through this work we saw the opportunity readily available to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) community. As a result, my partner and I integrated his experience in selling to the Hispanic market with my customer support know-how to develop SUNTEX where “the customer is the factor we exist as a business”. Our focus is linking the Hispanic neighborhood and our customers with outstanding client service.
Why is focusing on the Hispanic community a priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have actually personally experienced an absence of care and communication from those that can not recognize with our culture. We knew that solar benefits everybody, regardless of race or background, and that our people would require a lot of assistance to comprehend how to obtain this benefit for their houses.
What obstacles do you face? Why?
Being a little business with a high level of service expectations for our customers comes with its own set of difficulties. Additionally, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the essentials of these jobs are not commonly taught in school.
How are you making an impact through SUNTEX?
By just living up to our truthful worths. I have learned throughout my life that in service, there is no other way to do it right but to be honest. While others may take faster ways, the fact constantly prevails.
Please share with us a recent company success story.
During our preliminary consultation, I noted that they could just accomplish about 56% of solar energy offset due to their houses intake rates and shading from trees on the home. We went over a few additional energy effectiveness upgrades to the house to decrease energy usage, which might provide a greater energy balanced out. Angela initially winced at the thought of investing more money into the home, but ultimately she called me back and stated she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy efficiency upgrades.
During the setup, we wound up spending for Angela and her senior mother to remain in a hotel until their evaluations and upgrades were total to guarantee they were comfortable throughout the process.
Now, Angelas planetary system covers 100% of the electricity used in her house. Thanks to the Air Conditioning upgrade, they have actually lowered their energy usage greatly, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment monthly that is less than she was paying prior to installing solar. This is what we suggest by “customer support.”
From a nationwide viewpoint, how can we improve access to sustainable enery?
From my experience, there is a vast gap in gain access to. The majority of the house owners that we check out are lucky to own a home, yet a number of them have actually not qualified for solar due to numerous combined or isolated aspects such as subprime credit rating, lower yearly home earnings, self-employment, or a lack of knowledge of available loan programs. These neighborhoods require more support and education on the importance of installing a planetary system that can save them money. We require to provide more people with chances to embrace renewable resource with less inconveniences.
How has your Accelerate membership helped your organization?
By empowering us to believe that there is someone there to support our growth in this industry, and offering us the opportunity to satisfy others in the exact same boat. Now I know that there is hope for minority small businesses in the sustainable energy market.
How can potential partners work with you?
It is essential that we share the same worths and mission to assist others, even if it suggests getting out of our convenience zones. It might cost a little more for us to do service, however its worth it in the end for our clients. We d enjoy to meet to discuss possible partnership chances if youre ready to begin there.
Is there anything else you want to show ACORE members and partners?
We are really grateful for the Accelerate subscription program and for all of the opportunities you have actually provided. I understand this is only the beginning, and we have a long roadway ahead of us; nevertheless, I anticipate becoming a sponsor to help lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with a special thanks to all of my customers and collaborators at SUNTEX, because they are the fuel that drives the objective!
