In addition, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the basics of these jobs are not extensively taught in school. Throughout our initial appointment, I noted that they could just achieve about 56% of solar energy offset due to their houses consumption rates and shading from trees on the property. We went over a few extra energy effectiveness upgrades to the house to reduce energy consumption, which might provide a greater energy balanced out. Angela initially flinched at the thought of investing more cash into the home, however eventually she called me back and stated she desired to move forward with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades. Thanks to the A/c upgrade, they have reduced their energy intake significantly, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying prior to setting up solar.

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is happy to share the 4th installment in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog site series.
Each installment features industry leaders and subjects connected to accelerating an equitable and just transition to a renewable resource economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how three Hispanic-owned Accelerate member business are flourishing in the renewable resource sector.
What inspired you to start SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I always set high expectations for myself and always look for opportunities to serve others– be it by offering extraordinary customer support, language translations, or merely sharing understanding with others. My individual goals and desire to help others led me to operate in the sustainable energy sector, where I can pursue this dream on a larger scale.
Tell us about SUNTEX?
Our companys objective is easy: we wish to make solar easy and budget friendly every step of the method. We mainly serve the Hispanic community in Texas. That is what we do best– assist Spanish speakers comprehend and embrace renewable resource as a way of life, assisting generations to come.
Please share with us more about your journey toward establishing SUNTEX. Was there an “aha minute” when you decided to concentrate on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my company partner and I had the opportunity to sign up with an extremely promising small solar installation company in Houston. Through this work we saw the opportunity readily available to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) neighborhood.
Why is focusing on the Hispanic neighborhood a priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have personally experienced an absence of care and communication from those that can not determine with our culture. We understood that solar benefits everyone, regardless of race or background, and that our individuals would need a lot of support to understand how to get this advantage for their homes.
What challenges do you face? Why?
Being a little business with a high level of service expectations for our clients includes its own set of obstacles. The greatest challenge we deal with is shared by a number of little organizations: turnover. Furthermore, even though solar power has been around for a while, the essentials of these tasks are not widely taught in school. So, we need to invest a lot amount of time training sales personnel to make certain they are able to supply a high level of customer care.
How are you making an effect through SUNTEX?
By simply living up to our truthful worths. I have learned throughout my life that in business, there is no other way to do it right however to be truthful. While others might take shortcuts, the reality always dominates.
Please share with us a current business success story.
Throughout our initial visit, I kept in mind that they might just achieve about 56% of solar energy balanced out due to their homes intake rates and shading from trees on the property. We discussed a few additional energy effectiveness upgrades to the house to minimize energy usage, which could offer a greater energy offset. Angela initially flinched at the idea of investing more cash into the home, however ultimately she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades.
During the setup, we wound up spending for Angela and her senior mom to remain in a hotel up until their upgrades and assessments were total to ensure they were comfy throughout the process.
Now, Angelas planetary system covers 100% of the electrical power used in her house. Thanks to the air conditioner upgrade, they have decreased their energy intake considerably, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying before installing solar. This is what we suggest by “customer care.”
From a national point of view, how can we enhance access to renewable enery?
From my experience, there is a vast space in gain access to. The majority of the property owners that we visit are fortunate to own a home, yet a lot of them have not gotten approved for solar due to numerous combined or separated elements such as subprime credit rating, lower annual family income, self-employment, or an absence of knowledge of offered loan programs. These neighborhoods need more assistance and education on the value of installing a solar system that can conserve them money. We need to provide more people with chances to embrace renewable energy with less troubles.
How has your Accelerate membership assisted your business?
By empowering us to think that there is someone there to support our growth in this market, and providing us the chance to meet others in the same boat. Now I know that there is hope for minority little businesses in the renewable energy market.
How can possible partners work with you?
It is very important that we share the exact same values and objective to help others, even if it means leaving our convenience zones. It may cost a little more for us to do service, but its worth it in the end for our consumers. If youre willing to begin there, we d love to satisfy to discuss possible cooperation opportunities.
Exists anything else you wish to share with ACORE members and partners?
We are truly grateful for the Accelerate membership program and for all of the opportunities you have supplied. I know this is only the beginning, and we have a long roadway ahead of us; however, I eagerly anticipate becoming a sponsor to help lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with an unique thanks to all of my customers and partners at SUNTEX, considering that they are the fuel that drives the mission!
