By Constance ThompsonSeptember 16, 2021

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is pleased to share the fourth installation in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog series.
Each installation includes industry leaders and subjects related to speeding up a fair and just shift to a renewable resource economy. In acknowledgment of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how three Hispanic-owned Accelerate member companies are flourishing in the renewable energy sector.
What inspired you to begin SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I constantly set high expectations for myself and always try to find opportunities to serve others– be it by providing exceptional consumer service, language translations, or just sharing knowledge with others. My personal objectives and desire to assist others led me to operate in the renewable energy sector, where I can pursue this dream on a larger scale.
Inform us about SUNTEX?
Our companys objective is basic: we wish to make solar easy and inexpensive every step of the method. We mostly serve the Hispanic neighborhood in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers comprehend and adopt eco-friendly energy as a way of living, helping generations to come.
Please show us more about your journey toward establishing SUNTEX. Was there an “aha moment” when you decided to concentrate on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my organization partner and I had the chance to sign up with a really appealing little solar installation business in Houston. Through this work we saw the chance offered to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) neighborhood.
Why is concentrating on the Hispanic community a top priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have personally experienced a lack of care and communication from those that can not determine with our culture. We understood that solar benefits everybody, regardless of race or background, and that our individuals would need a lot of support to understand how to acquire this advantage for their houses.
What difficulties do you deal with? Why?
Being a little business with a high level of service expectations for our consumers comes with its own set of difficulties. In addition, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the essentials of these jobs are not extensively taught in school.
How are you making an impact through SUNTEX?
By simply living up to our sincere worths. I have actually discovered throughout my life that in organization, there is no other way to do it best but to be sincere. While others may take shortcuts, the reality always prevails.
Please show us a current company success story.
During our initial appointment, I noted that they might just accomplish about 56% of solar energy offset due to their homes usage rates and shading from trees on the residential or commercial property. We discussed a couple of additional energy performance upgrades to the home to decrease energy usage, which might provide a greater energy balanced out. Angela initially winced at the idea of investing more cash into the home, but eventually she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades.
Throughout the installation, we wound up paying for Angela and her elderly mother to stay in a hotel up until their inspections and upgrades were complete to guarantee they were comfortable throughout the procedure.
Now, Angelas planetary system covers 100% of the electrical energy utilized in her home. Thanks to the air conditioner upgrade, they have decreased their energy intake considerably, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying prior to installing solar. This is what we mean by “customer care.”
From a national viewpoint, how can we improve access to renewable enery?
From my experience, there is a huge gap in gain access to. The majority of the property owners that we check out are fortunate to own a house, yet a number of them have actually not certified for solar due to a number of combined or separated factors such as subprime credit rating, lower yearly household income, self-employment, or an absence of knowledge of offered loan programs. These communities require more support and education on the value of setting up a planetary system that can save them money. We need to provide more people with opportunities to embrace sustainable energy with fewer troubles.
How has your Accelerate subscription assisted your organization?
By empowering us to believe that there is somebody there to support our growth in this market, and giving us the chance to fulfill others in the same boat. Now I know that there is expect minority small companies in the renewable resource market.
How can potential partners do service with you?
It is essential that we share the exact same worths and objective to assist others, even if it suggests getting out of our convenience zones. It might cost a little more for us to do organization, but its worth it in the end for our customers. If youre prepared to start there, we d love to fulfill to go over possible collaboration chances.
Exists anything else you wish to show ACORE members and partners?
We are really grateful for the Accelerate membership program and for all of the opportunities you have actually provided. I know this is just the beginning, and we have a long road ahead of us; nevertheless, I look forward to ending up being a sponsor to assist lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with an unique thanks to all of my clients and partners at SUNTEX, given that they are the fuel that drives the objective!
