In addition, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the fundamentals of these tasks are not commonly taught in school. During our preliminary consultation, I kept in mind that they might just attain about 56% of solar energy offset due to their homes consumption rates and shading from trees on the property. We talked about a few additional energy effectiveness upgrades to the home to minimize energy usage, which could provide a greater energy offset. Angela at first winced at the idea of investing more cash into the home, however eventually she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades. Thanks to the Air conditioning upgrade, they have minimized their energy usage considerably, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying prior to setting up solar.

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is pleased to share the 4th installation in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog series.
Each installation features industry leaders and subjects connected to accelerating an equitable and just transition to a renewable energy economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how three Hispanic-owned Accelerate member business are thriving in the renewable resource sector.
What inspired you to begin SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I always set high expectations for myself and always look for opportunities to serve others– be it by providing remarkable customer care, language translations, or simply sharing knowledge with others. My personal objectives and desire to assist others led me to work in the renewable resource sector, where I can pursue this dream on a bigger scale.
Tell us about SUNTEX?
Our companys mission is simple: we desire to make solar easy and inexpensive every step of the way. We largely serve the Hispanic neighborhood in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers comprehend and adopt renewable resource as a lifestyle, assisting generations to come.
Please share with us more about your journey towards establishing SUNTEX. Was there an “aha moment” when you decided to concentrate on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my organization partner and I had the chance to sign up with a really promising little solar setup company in Houston. Through this work we saw the opportunity offered to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) community.
Why is focusing on the Hispanic community a concern for SUNTEX?
Primary: it remains in our blood. My organization partner and I are native Spanish speakers, and we can recognize well with our individuals and their worldview. Number Two: in the past, we have personally experienced a lack of care and communication from those that can not relate to our culture. We understood that solar benefits everyone, regardless of race or background, and that our people would need a great deal of assistance to comprehend how to acquire this benefit for their homes.
What challenges do you deal with? Why?
Being a small business with a high level of service expectations for our consumers comes with its own set of challenges. Additionally, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the essentials of these jobs are not extensively taught in school.
How are you making an effect through SUNTEX?
By simply measuring up to our truthful worths. I have actually learned throughout my life that in service, there is no other way to do it best but to be sincere. While others may take faster ways, the fact always dominates.
Please share with us a recent business success story.
Just recently, after helping a client “go solar” in 2 of her homes, she referred a new client called Angela to us. Throughout our preliminary consultation, I kept in mind that they might just accomplish about 56% of solar energy balanced out due to their homes intake rates and shading from trees on the property. We discussed a couple of extra energy performance upgrades to your home to minimize energy consumption, which might provide a greater energy offset. Angela at first cringed at the thought of investing more money into the house, however eventually she called me back and stated she desired to move on with the solar and energy effectiveness upgrades. We finished a Home Energy Audit to see why her use was so high and discovered that her home needed a larger a/c system, plus extra ducts to distribute the AC uniformly throughout your house. We likewise informed her that the financing partner might add the expense of that upgrade to the solar loan– and that in doing so, she could receive a lower rate of interest than any other house improvement loan for that a/c upgrade. She took my advice and chose to progress and was, in reality, able to minimize her loan interest rate.
Throughout the installation, we wound up spending for Angela and her elderly mother to remain in a hotel up until their assessments and upgrades were total to guarantee they were comfortable throughout the procedure.
Now, Angelas solar system covers 100% of the electrical energy utilized in her home. Thanks to the AC upgrade, they have lowered their energy intake significantly, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment every month that is less than she was paying before setting up solar. This is what we suggest by “customer support.”
From a national point of view, how can we enhance access to eco-friendly enery?
Most of the homeowners that we visit are fortunate to own a house, yet many of them have not certified for solar due to numerous combined or separated factors such as subprime credit score, lower yearly household income, self-employment, or an absence of knowledge of available loan programs. We need to supply more people with opportunities to adopt eco-friendly energy with less inconveniences.
How has your Accelerate membership assisted your service?
By empowering us to believe that there is someone there to support our growth in this market, and giving us the opportunity to fulfill others in the very same boat. Now I know that there is hope for minority small companies in the renewable energy industry.
How can prospective partners do company with you?
It is very important that we share the same worths and objective to help others, even if it implies leaving our comfort zones. It might cost a little bit more for us to do service, but its worth it in the end for our customers. We d love to satisfy to talk about possible collaboration chances if youre ready to begin there.
Is there anything else you wish to share with ACORE members and partners?
We are really grateful for the Accelerate subscription program and for all of the opportunities you have provided. I know this is only the start, and we have a long roadway ahead of us; nevertheless, I eagerly anticipate becoming a sponsor to assist lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with an unique thanks to all of my customers and collaborators at SUNTEX, given that they are the fuel that drives the mission!
