Furthermore, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the essentials of these jobs are not commonly taught in school. Throughout our initial consultation, I kept in mind that they could only achieve about 56% of solar energy balanced out due to their houses consumption rates and shading from trees on the home. We went over a few extra energy efficiency upgrades to the home to minimize energy intake, which could offer a higher energy offset. Angela at first cringed at the idea of investing more cash into the house, but ultimately she called me back and stated she desired to move forward with the solar and energy efficiency upgrades. Thanks to the Air Conditioner upgrade, they have minimized their energy usage significantly, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying before installing solar.
The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is pleased to share the 4th installment in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog series.
Each installation includes market leaders and topics related to speeding up an equitable and simply transition to a renewable energy economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how three Hispanic-owned Accelerate member business are thriving in the renewable resource sector.
What inspired you to begin SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I constantly set high expectations for myself and constantly try to find opportunities to serve others– be it by supplying extraordinary client service, language translations, or just sharing understanding with others. My personal goals and desire to help others led me to operate in the renewable resource sector, where I can pursue this dream on a larger scale.
Inform us about SUNTEX?
Our companys objective is easy: we desire to make solar simple and budget-friendly every step of the way. We largely serve the Hispanic community in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers understand and adopt eco-friendly energy as a lifestyle, helping generations to come.
Please share with us more about your journey towards developing SUNTEX. Existed an “aha minute” when you decided to focus on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my business partner and I had the opportunity to join a really promising little solar installation company in Houston. Through this work we saw the chance offered to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) community. As a result, my partner and I combined his experience in offering to the Hispanic market with my customer support expertise to create SUNTEX where “the customer is the factor we exist as a company”. Our focus is linking the Hispanic neighborhood and our customers with outstanding client service.
Why is focusing on the Hispanic neighborhood a priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have personally experienced an absence of care and interaction from those that can not identify with our culture. We knew that solar benefits everybody, regardless of race or background, and that our people would require a lot of support to comprehend how to get this advantage for their homes.
What obstacles do you face? Why?
Being a small business with a high level of service expectations for our customers comes with its own set of obstacles. In addition, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the fundamentals of these tasks are not commonly taught in school.
How are you making an effect through SUNTEX?
By just living up to our sincere worths. I have discovered throughout my life that in service, there is no other method to do it right but to be honest. While others might take shortcuts, the truth constantly prevails.
Please share with us a recent company success story.
During our preliminary visit, I noted that they could only achieve about 56% of solar energy offset due to their homes consumption rates and shading from trees on the residential or commercial property. We talked about a couple of extra energy efficiency upgrades to the house to lower energy usage, which could provide a higher energy offset. Angela initially cringed at the idea of investing more cash into the home, but ultimately she called me back and stated she desired to move forward with the solar and energy performance upgrades.
Throughout the installation, we wound up paying for Angela and her elderly mom to stay in a hotel till their examinations and upgrades were complete to ensure they were comfortable throughout the procedure.
Now, Angelas solar system covers 100% of the electricity used in her home. Thanks to the A/C upgrade, they have decreased their energy intake considerably, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment monthly that is less than she was paying prior to setting up solar. This is what we indicate by “consumer service.”
From a nationwide point of view, how can we enhance access to renewable enery?
From my experience, there is a large gap in gain access to. Most of the property owners that we check out are fortunate to own a home, yet much of them have actually not qualified for solar due to a number of combined or isolated aspects such as subprime credit history, lower yearly home earnings, self-employment, or a lack of understanding of readily available loan programs. These communities require more assistance and education on the value of installing a solar system that can conserve them cash. We require to supply more individuals with opportunities to adopt sustainable energy with fewer inconveniences.
How has your Accelerate membership assisted your business?
By empowering us to believe that there is somebody there to support our development in this market, and offering us the opportunity to meet others in the exact same boat. Now I know that there is wish for minority small companies in the renewable resource industry.
How can prospective partners work with you?
It is necessary that we share the exact same worths and objective to assist others, even if it implies leaving our convenience zones. It might cost a little bit more for us to do company, however its worth it in the end for our customers. If youre ready to start there, we d like to fulfill to discuss possible partnership chances.
Is there anything else you want to show ACORE members and partners?
We are genuinely grateful for the Accelerate membership program and for all of the chances you have actually provided. I understand this is just the beginning, and we have a long road ahead of us; however, I look forward to becoming a sponsor to help lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with an unique thanks to all of my consumers and partners at SUNTEX, considering that they are the fuel that drives the mission!
