Today, we are including Lyssy Energy Enterprises, a utility-scale sustainable energy developer in Texas. The following is a Q&A with Lyssy Energy Co-Founder and COO Katie Garza and Constance Thompson, ACOREs Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs.
What inspired you to start Lyssy Energy?
Lyssy Energy Enterprises all began with a favor to my father. He asked me to put together an energy lease that would secure his land for ranching and farming while offering an additional source of income.
A couple years later, we started partnering with eco-friendly energy designers. There were certainly difficulties and imperfections, closed doors and unequal collaborations, however we utilized this time to actually sharpen our craft. We understood that if we desired our business to grow and succeed then we would need to take a danger. What challenges do you deal with? Why?
Capital is among the greatest challenges we deal with at the minute. The wind and the sun supply electrical energy, but capital is what moves whatever and everybody else. We need capital for everyday operations, and to develop, construct and operate our tasks.
Securing development capital early is necessary in offering land control and affiliation research studies to get tasks off the ground. We are working hard to establish relationships with large investment companies that have a strong interest in renewables and can provide the capital necessary to develop a successful renewable energy project.

Lyssy Energy Enterprises is open to partnerships or joint ventures. We are offered to discuss the need for all types of capital stack with various equity, tax and financial obligation business that run in this industry and those interested in investing in sustainable energy projects and companies.
How are you making an impact through Lyssy Energy?
Lyssy Energy Enterprises strives to continue developing a diverse business. We wish to assist balance the inequalities in our society by reaching out to people that are traditionally disregarded and passed over. Ladies and people of color are key to our success, and it is crucial to promote their development to positions of management and leadership.
Lyssy Energy is working with bad communities in rural locations, and we hope to make a distinction by bringing eco-friendly energy tasks to locations with high rates of hardship and other susceptible communities. It is important for the energy shift to not only change how we produce energy, but to bring the disenfranchised to the center of this technological advancement so everyone shares the advantages.
