Today, we are featuring Lyssy Energy Enterprises, a utility-scale renewable resource developer in Texas. The following is a Q&A with Lyssy Energy Co-Founder and COO Katie Garza and Constance Thompson, ACOREs Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs.
What inspired you to begin Lyssy Energy?
Lyssy Energy Enterprises all started with a favor to my daddy. He asked me to create an energy lease that would secure his land for ranching and farming while providing an additional income source. Before we understood it, my partner and I were assisting others in the very same scenario. So, we made it main, started a business and got to work.
A couple years later on, we started partnering with eco-friendly energy developers. There were definitely obstacles and imperfections, closed doors and unequal partnerships, however we utilized this time to actually sharpen our craft. Lyssy Energy Enterprises is an innovative, privately held, utility-scale designer of solar, wind and battery energy services. What obstacles do you deal with? Why?
Capital is among the greatest challenges we face at the minute. The sun and the wind provide electrical power, but capital is what moves everything and everyone else. We require capital for everyday operations, and to establish, construct and run our projects.

Ladies and people of color are key to our success, and it is necessary to promote their advancement to positions of management and leadership.
Poverty is another problem we want to attend to. Lyssy Energy is dealing with bad neighborhoods in backwoods, and we intend to make a difference by bringing sustainable energy jobs to areas with high rates of poverty and other vulnerable neighborhoods. These projects offer trusted and affordable electrical energy, and also bring task chances and facilities development to bad neighborhoods. It is necessary for the energy transition to not only modification how we produce energy, however to bring the disenfranchised to the center of this technological development so everyone shares the advantages.
