Today, we are featuring Lyssy Energy Enterprises, a utility-scale renewable resource designer in Texas. The following is a Q&A with Lyssy Energy Co-Founder and COO Katie Garza and Constance Thompson, ACOREs Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs.
What inspired you to start Lyssy Energy?
Lyssy Energy Enterprises all started with a favor to my dad. He asked me to put together an energy lease that would safeguard his land for ranching and farming while supplying an additional income. Before we understood it, my partner and I were helping others in the exact same situation. We made it official, got and began an organization to work.
A couple years later on, we began partnering with sustainable energy designers. We used 2020 to rebrand Lyssy Energy into the company we had always dreamed about. Lyssy Energy Enterprises is an innovative, privately held, utility-scale developer of solar, wind and battery energy options. What challenges do you deal with? Why?

Lyssy Energy Enterprises is open to collaborations or joint endeavors. How are you making an effect through Lyssy Energy?
Lyssy Energy Enterprises aims to continue developing a varied business. We wish to assist balance the inequalities in our society by reaching out to individuals that are traditionally overlooked and passed over. Women and individuals of color are crucial to our success, and it is important to promote their improvement to positions of management and leadership.
Lyssy Energy is working with poor communities in rural locations, and we hope to make a difference by bringing sustainable energy jobs to locations with high rates of poverty and other susceptible communities. It is important for the energy transition to not only modification how we produce energy, however to bring the disenfranchised to the center of this technological development so everyone shares the advantages.
