Today, we are featuring Lyssy Energy Enterprises, a utility-scale renewable resource developer in Texas. The following is a Q&A with Lyssy Energy Co-Founder and COO Katie Garza and Constance Thompson, ACOREs Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs.
What inspired you to start Lyssy Energy?
Lyssy Energy Enterprises all began with a favor to my daddy. He asked me to put together an energy lease that would secure his land for ranching and farming while supplying an additional source of income.
A couple years later, we began partnering with renewable energy developers. We used 2020 to rebrand Lyssy Energy into the company we had constantly dreamed about. In 2021, we have reintroduced ourselves to the world– no longer as an energy service company, but as sustainable energy developers with the hope of owning and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects.

Lyssy Energy Enterprises is an ingenious, privately held, utility-scale designer of solar, wind and battery energy options. Our prime instruction is to add to the velocity of the energy industrys shift to sustainable energy. We focus our operations in Texas, where growing population and service growth indicate a rapidly growing need for energy. What difficulties do you face? Why?
Capital is among the biggest challenges we face at the moment. The wind and the sun offer electricity, but capital is what moves everything and everybody else. We require capital for everyday operations, and to develop, construct and run our projects.
Securing advancement capital early is important in providing land control and interconnection research studies to get tasks off the ground. Females and individuals of color are crucial to our success, and it is very important to promote their advancement to positions of management and leadership.
Lyssy Energy is working with poor communities in rural locations, and we hope to make a distinction by bringing sustainable energy projects to areas with high rates of hardship and other vulnerable neighborhoods.
