The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is pleased to share the 4th installation in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog series.
Each installation features industry leaders and subjects connected to speeding up an equitable and just transition to a renewable resource economy. In acknowledgment of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how 3 Hispanic-owned Accelerate member companies are prospering in the renewable resource sector.
What inspired you to begin SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I always set high expectations for myself and constantly search for chances to serve others– be it by providing remarkable customer support, language translations, or merely sharing understanding with others. My personal objectives and desire to assist others led me to operate in the renewable resource sector, where I can pursue this dream on a larger scale.
Tell us about SUNTEX?
Our businesss objective is simple: we desire to make solar easy and inexpensive every action of the way. We mainly serve the Hispanic neighborhood in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers understand and adopt renewable resource as a way of living, helping generations to come.
Please show us more about your journey toward developing SUNTEX. Was there an “aha minute” when you decided to focus on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my organization partner and I had the chance to join an extremely appealing little solar setup company in Houston. Through this work we saw the chance offered to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) community. As an outcome, my partner and I integrated his experience in offering to the Hispanic market with my customer service proficiency to produce SUNTEX where “the customer is the factor we exist as a company”. Our focus is linking the Hispanic neighborhood and our customers with exceptional client service.
Why is focusing on the Hispanic community a top priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have actually personally experienced a lack of care and communication from those that can not identify with our culture. We understood that solar advantages everyone, regardless of race or background, and that our individuals would need a lot of support to comprehend how to acquire this advantage for their homes.
What difficulties do you deal with? Why?
Being a little company with a high level of service expectations for our customers comes with its own set of challenges. Additionally, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the essentials of these tasks are not widely taught in school.
How are you making an effect through SUNTEX?
By simply living up to our honest worths. I have found out throughout my life that in company, there is no other method to do it ideal however to be honest. While others may take shortcuts, the reality constantly prevails.
Please share with us a current business success story.
Throughout our preliminary visit, I noted that they could just achieve about 56% of solar energy balanced out due to their homes consumption rates and shading from trees on the residential or commercial property. We discussed a couple of additional energy effectiveness upgrades to the house to minimize energy usage, which could provide a higher energy balanced out. Angela initially flinched at the thought of investing more cash into the home, however ultimately she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy performance upgrades.
Throughout the installation, we wound up spending for Angela and her elderly mom to remain in a hotel till their examinations and upgrades were complete to ensure they were comfortable throughout the process.
Now, Angelas solar system covers 100% of the electrical power used in her home. Thanks to the AC upgrade, they have lowered their energy usage considerably, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment monthly that is less than she was paying prior to setting up solar. This is what we mean by “customer support.”
From a nationwide point of view, how can we improve access to eco-friendly enery?
Many of the homeowners that we check out are lucky to own a house, yet many of them have actually not qualified for solar due to several combined or separated elements such as subprime credit score, lower annual family earnings, self-employment, or an absence of understanding of offered loan programs. We require to supply more people with chances to embrace renewable energy with fewer troubles.
How has your Accelerate subscription assisted your business?
By empowering us to believe that there is somebody there to support our development in this market, and offering us the chance to meet others in the exact same boat. Now I know that there is hope for minority little companies in the renewable energy market.
How can possible partners work with you?
It is necessary that we share the very same values and mission to assist others, even if it indicates getting out of our comfort zones. It may cost a bit more for us to do service, but its worth it in the end for our customers. If youre ready to begin there, we d enjoy to meet to go over possible cooperation opportunities.
Exists anything else you would like to show ACORE members and partners?
We are genuinely grateful for the Accelerate subscription program and for all of the chances you have actually offered. I know this is only the start, and we have a long roadway ahead of us; however, I look forward to becoming a sponsor to assist lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with a special thanks to all of my consumers and partners at SUNTEX, given that they are the fuel that drives the objective!
