Teslas Model 3 cabs are currently on the streets of New York City, and now, thanks to Gravity Inc.s new pilot program, Teslas Model Y lorries will be joining them to help present more battery-electric cars (BEVs) to the taxi industry.
Gravity, a private transportation business concentrating on future innovations for the betterment of guest experiences, has been dealing with The NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) and various state firms and corporations to get the pilot program authorized. In a news release, Gravity noted that currently, all BEVs that can go 0-to-60 in under 4.4 seconds are eligible to be a part of the program. This indicates the long-range Tesla Model Y is eligible, and the TLC unanimously approved a 1 year pilot program for it.
Gravity
Gravitys push for the Model Y over other designs is because of its spacious interior cabin that will comfortably fit a bigger range of users. Furthermore, the Model Y has a load of ingenious tech functions that make the experience better for travelers and drivers alike, such as 22-inch interactive screens, Wi-Fi, motorist tracking and remedying AI, and night-vision 360-degree electronic cameras around the vehicle. Plus, with its long-range capability, the Model Y can run several shifts throughout the city on a single charge..
” By reimagining the tradition of the iconic yellow taxi, Gravity is bringing a new worth to travel that the City requires,” specified Gravity Advisor and Regulatory Counsel Matt Daus. “We totally applaud the TLC and the commissioner for their positive BEV pilot and eagerly anticipate being a huge part of it.”.
With its long-range capability, fleet of tech features, and support for both street hailing and on-demand reservation at current yellow taxi prices, the Tesla Model Y makes for a wise addition to New York Citys taxi market. Gravity hopes to bring it to other thick urban areas once it launches this pilot program.
