Furthermore, even though solar energy has actually been around for a while, the fundamentals of these jobs are not extensively taught in school. During our preliminary appointment, I noted that they might only accomplish about 56% of solar energy offset due to their houses consumption rates and shading from trees on the home. We discussed a couple of additional energy performance upgrades to the house to reduce energy usage, which might supply a greater energy balanced out. Angela at first cringed at the thought of investing more cash into the house, but ultimately she called me back and said she desired to move forward with the solar and energy efficiency upgrades. Thanks to the AC upgrade, they have minimized their energy consumption considerably, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment each month that is less than she was paying prior to setting up solar.

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is happy to share the 4th installation in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog series.
Each installment includes industry leaders and subjects connected to accelerating an equitable and simply transition to a renewable resource economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how three Hispanic-owned Accelerate member business are growing in the renewable resource sector.
What inspired you to start SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I always set high expectations for myself and constantly try to find opportunities to serve others– be it by providing remarkable customer support, language translations, or just sharing knowledge with others. My personal objectives and desire to assist others led me to operate in the renewable resource sector, where I can pursue this dream on a larger scale.
Tell us about SUNTEX?
Our businesss objective is easy: we wish to make solar easy and budget-friendly every step of the way. We mostly serve the Hispanic community in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers understand and embrace eco-friendly energy as a lifestyle, assisting generations to come.
Please share with us more about your journey towards establishing SUNTEX. Existed an “aha moment” when you decided to focus on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my business partner and I had the opportunity to sign up with an extremely appealing little solar installation company in Houston. Through this work we saw the opportunity available to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) neighborhood. As an outcome, my partner and I integrated his experience in selling to the Hispanic market with my customer support know-how to develop SUNTEX where “the consumer is the factor we exist as a business”. Our focus is linking the Hispanic community and our consumers with excellent customer care.
Why is concentrating on the Hispanic community a priority for SUNTEX?
Top: it is in our blood. My organization partner and I are native Spanish speakers, and we can identify well with our people and their worldview. Second: in the past, we have actually personally experienced an absence of care and communication from those that can not relate to our culture. We understood that solar benefits everyone, despite race or background, which our individuals would need a lot of support to understand how to get this advantage for their houses.
What obstacles do you face? Why?
Being a little company with a high level of service expectations for our customers comes with its own set of difficulties. In addition, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the basics of these tasks are not commonly taught in school.
How are you making an impact through SUNTEX?
By merely measuring up to our truthful worths. I have found out throughout my life that in organization, there is no other method to do it best however to be truthful. While others may take faster ways, the fact constantly prevails.
Please share with us a current business success story.
Throughout our preliminary appointment, I noted that they could only accomplish about 56% of solar energy balanced out due to their homes consumption rates and shading from trees on the home. We discussed a couple of extra energy performance upgrades to the house to minimize energy consumption, which could offer a greater energy balanced out. Angela at first flinched at the idea of investing more cash into the house, however ultimately she called me back and said she wanted to move forward with the solar and energy efficiency upgrades.
Throughout the installation, we wound up spending for Angela and her elderly mother to stay in a hotel till their evaluations and upgrades were total to guarantee they were comfortable throughout the process.
Now, Angelas planetary system covers 100% of the electrical power used in her home. Thanks to the a/c upgrade, they have lowered their energy consumption greatly, and she has a flat, predictable solar payment monthly that is less than she was paying prior to installing solar. This is what we indicate by “customer care.”
From a national viewpoint, how can we improve access to renewable enery?
Many of the house owners that we check out are fortunate to own a home, yet numerous of them have actually not qualified for solar due to numerous combined or separated factors such as subprime credit score, lower annual home earnings, self-employment, or a lack of knowledge of offered loan programs. We require to supply more people with chances to adopt sustainable energy with fewer inconveniences.
How has your Accelerate subscription helped your organization?
By empowering us to think that there is someone there to support our development in this industry, and giving us the chance to satisfy others in the same boat. Now I understand that there is wish for minority small companies in the renewable resource industry.
How can potential partners work with you?
It is necessary that we share the same values and mission to assist others, even if it suggests leaving our comfort zones. It might cost a little more for us to do service, however its worth it in the end for our clients. We d love to meet to discuss possible collaboration chances if youre ready to begin there.
Exists anything else you would like to share with ACORE members and partners?
We are genuinely grateful for the Accelerate membership program and for all of the chances you have offered. I know this is just the start, and we have a long roadway ahead of us; nevertheless, I look forward to becoming a sponsor to assist lead the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with a special thanks to all of my customers and collaborators at SUNTEX, since they are the fuel that drives the mission!
