By Constance ThompsonSeptember 16, 2021

The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is pleased to share the fourth installation in our “Accelerating Renewables” blog site series.
Each installation includes market leaders and subjects associated with speeding up an equitable and just transition to an eco-friendly energy economy. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our September functions highlight how three Hispanic-owned Accelerate member companies are flourishing in the eco-friendly energy sector.
What inspired you to start SUNTEX?
As a natural-born leader, I constantly set high expectations for myself and always look for chances to serve others– be it by offering extraordinary customer support, language translations, or just sharing understanding with others. My personal objectives and desire to assist others led me to operate in the renewable resource sector, where I can pursue this dream on a bigger scale.
Inform us about SUNTEX?
Our businesss objective is easy: we wish to make solar easy and budget-friendly every step of the method. We mainly serve the Hispanic community in Texas. That is what we do best– help Spanish speakers comprehend and adopt renewable resource as a way of living, assisting generations to come.
Please show us more about your journey toward developing SUNTEX. Existed an “aha moment” when you chose to concentrate on solar?
Back in August of 2018, my service partner and I had the chance to join an extremely appealing little solar setup company in Houston. Through this work we saw the chance available to bring solar into our (the Hispanic) community. As an outcome, my partner and I combined his experience in selling to the Hispanic market with my client service competence to develop SUNTEX where “the client is the reason we exist as a company”. Our focus is linking the Hispanic community and our clients with exceptional customer support.
Why is concentrating on the Hispanic community a top priority for SUNTEX?
Number Two: in the past, we have actually personally experienced an absence of care and interaction from those that can not determine with our culture. We knew that solar advantages everyone, regardless of race or background, and that our individuals would require a lot of assistance to understand how to obtain this advantage for their homes.
What challenges do you deal with? Why?
Being a little company with a high level of service expectations for our customers comes with its own set of difficulties. Additionally, even though solar energy has been around for a while, the fundamentals of these jobs are not widely taught in school.
How are you making an effect through SUNTEX?
By merely measuring up to our sincere worths. I have discovered throughout my life that in business, there is no other way to do it best but to be sincere. While others might take faster ways, the reality constantly prevails.
Please show us a current business success story.
Recently, after helping a customer “go solar” in 2 of her houses, she referred a brand-new client named Angela to us. Throughout our initial consultation, I noted that they could only achieve about 56% of solar energy offset due to their houses intake rates and shading from trees on the residential or commercial property. We talked about a couple of additional energy performance upgrades to your house to reduce energy usage, which might offer a greater energy balanced out. Angela at first flinched at the thought of investing more cash into the home, but ultimately she called me back and stated she wished to move forward with the solar and energy performance upgrades. We finished a Home Energy Audit to see why her usage was so high and found that her home required a bigger Air Conditioner unit, plus extra ducts to disperse the A/C evenly throughout your house. We also informed her that the finance partner could add the cost of that upgrade to the solar loan– which in doing so, she could qualify for a lower interest rate than any other home improvement loan for that A/C upgrade. She took my guidance and chose to progress and was, in truth, able to minimize her loan rate of interest.
Throughout the installation, we ended up paying for Angela and her elderly mom to remain in a hotel up until their assessments and upgrades were complete to guarantee they were comfy throughout the process.
Now, Angelas planetary system covers 100% of the electrical power used in her house. Thanks to the Air Conditioning upgrade, they have decreased their energy consumption considerably, and she has a flat, foreseeable solar payment monthly that is less than she was paying before setting up solar. This is what we suggest by “client service.”
From a nationwide viewpoint, how can we enhance access to eco-friendly enery?
Most of the homeowners that we visit are fortunate to own a house, yet numerous of them have actually not certified for solar due to numerous combined or separated elements such as subprime credit rating, lower yearly home income, self-employment, or a lack of knowledge of available loan programs. We need to provide more people with chances to adopt sustainable energy with fewer troubles.
How has your Accelerate membership assisted your service?
By empowering us to believe that there is someone there to support our growth in this industry, and providing us the chance to satisfy others in the very same boat. Now I understand that there is expect minority small companies in the renewable resource market.
How can possible partners do organization with you?
It is necessary that we share the exact same values and mission to help others, even if it means leaving our comfort zones. It may cost a bit more for us to do company, however its worth it in the end for our customers. If youre ready to begin there, we d like to satisfy to talk about possible cooperation opportunities.
Exists anything else you would like to show ACORE members and partners?
We are really grateful for the Accelerate subscription program and for all of the opportunities you have actually offered. I know this is just the start, and we have a long road ahead of us; however, I eagerly anticipate becoming a sponsor to assist pave the way for other Accelerate members in the future– with a special thanks to all of my consumers and collaborators at SUNTEX, given that they are the fuel that drives the objective!
